All points bulletin had it’s first major revamp from it’s new overlords at GamersFirst. This heralds in a whole slew of new changes and while (for now) the game is still in closed beta, this is the first step towards open beta, at least according to Bjorn over at the official blog. The “patch” itself is a whopping 3.86 gigs so don’t come rushing home expecting to jump right into game if your one of the lucky individuals in the closed beta. Personally ARGO, a new FTP “hyrbid” MMO, hit the blocks today. Never could figure out what they meant by “hybrid” being that from everything I’ve seen it’s yet another copy paste MMO grind-fest. The forum responses seem to mirror this assessment and even though they tout some PvP content (woot! yet another version of capture the flag, how original /sarcasm) I would suggest giving this one a pass. I can’t even figure out what nationality the host company is. Everything about the graphics and design scream Korean but One of the big marketing taglines for Rift was “polished at release”. This was a promise that Trion did keep. What was available was certainly very polished and relatively bug free considering it to be a newly launched MMO. The problem, that’s all too common with MMOG releases these days, was that it was not complete. Now I have to preference this with the statement that no MMO is ever truly “complete” but if you ever are playing a game and get to a point where This game has a lot to offer, and even more potential. The graphics and game-play are simply breathtaking. I really have yet to run into anyone that disagrees, and for an MMO that’s saying something. The problem is the other half of the equation is lacking. That being the reason behind the combat. I’m not talking about roleplaying reasoning, I’m talking about player motivation. The game has a stellar prologue, about 4-5 hours worth of story until you finally pick a faction and are dumped into I’m not one to usually comment on hardware related news but as gamers it is impossible to ignore the correlation between the quality of gaming hardware and the quality of gaming experience. That being said I couldn’t help but make an exception in this case as these are good prices (25% off) on Logitech hardware, of which I am a huge fan. In any case most of the deals are listed here.
