Three new vidoes of NCsoft’s new and upcoming MMO Blade & Soul have surfaced highlighting the games PvP gameplay. While the actual combat revealed was a bit underwhelming, the graphics seemed to be polished to quite a high level and the mechanics are original, or at least I haven’t seen their like just yet. The first two videos show 1 on 1 scenarios and the third shows a zergy battle scene between the opposing factions within the game. My only comment would be to note the numerous knockdown techniques the players employ and I can’t help but imagine that, in a PvP setting, mechanics like that are going to be nothing but frustrating. To be able to do nothing more then sit there as your character gets focus pummeled to me would be unacceptable. Seems like they might have missed reading rule #11 on the MMO pitfalls page. It’s a little early to start criticizing however as the game is only in beta and not due for release until sometime 2012. Release in Korea that is, who knows when/if it will ever hit the US shelves. The one quiet upside to such a delay is that they fulfill the 6 month rule all on their own. Aforementioned PvP footage embedded below.
Oh and if you were wondering, yes there were many much more relevant screenshots from which to choose for the article, but really, can you blame me?
